A Letter to Myself

Dear Self,

I am writing you this letter because I feel that you are letting us down. You have so much more potential than you are currently showing, but you have succumbed into fear of failing and thus now refuse to try at all. You settle for doing the bare minimum and never trying to reach your full potential. You are failing yourself and me. You are failing the dreamer in me who wants to achieve a lot to be able to help a lot of people. Do not fail the people who you have the potential to help to lead better lives. Do not fall into your comfort zone. Time is passing by and you need to make plans to achieve your dreams even if you merely take one baby step at a time. Remember that you are not only doing this for yourself, but you are doing it to be able to reach out to others and have a positive impact on others. Remember that you came from a war torn zone where life is anything but normal, and be thankful for all the opportunities you had that many of your people did not. It was a matter of luck or opportunity that you have been able to reach where you are now. It is a good start, but do not stop here. Remember who you were as a child and remember your love for books. Do not let technology get in the way, and remember to use your imagination even if other people call you weird or crazy. Be who you are and do not fall into the norm because nobody was born into the norm; we were sculpted into it, but we do not have to. Remain true to yourself and believe in yourself. You must be your first and foremost fan always cheering yourself on. Why are there people who believe in you whilst you do not believe in yourself? Do not be afraid to wish and dream, but remember there must be actions to turn them into reality. If you do not want to do it for yourself, do it for the people.
